About Clockify
With that out of the way: Clockify is, at its heart, a very good time tracker that does one job and resists the urge to become a project manager. You start a timer (or log time manually), tag it to a project, client and task, and the data turns into reports, timesheets and, on the right plan, invoices. It launched in 2017, hit a million users by 2019, and is now the most widely used tracker going, largely because for years it gave away what rivals like Toggl and Harvest charged for. The interface is clean and almost training-free; most people are tracking time within five minutes of signing up.
The paid tiers are where the real comparison now lives. Basic ($3.99/user/month) adds admin controls, required fields and locked entries; Standard ($5.49) brings invoicing, approvals, time-off and QuickBooks; Pro ($7.99) layers on scheduling, budgets, labour costs, GPS and screenshots; Enterprise ($11.99) adds SSO and audit logs. They're still competitively priced, Toggl's entry tier is $9, and the granular tiers mean you only pay for what you use. The honest flip side: costs climb once a team needs the good stuff (20 users on Pro is ~$160/month), the reporting and UX are functional rather than polished, and exporting cleanly to payroll can mean a weekly CSV wrestle. For freelancers, agencies and service teams who want serious, affordable time tracking, it's still one of the best picks around. Sign up through Rewardio for 15% recurring monthly cashback.

What we like
- Genuinely fast, near-training-free setup, most teams are tracking time within minutes
- Affordable paid tiers from $3.99/user that undercut Toggl and Harvest, with invoicing built in from Standard
- Native Plaky and Pumble integrations plus 80+ apps, so time data flows into the rest of your stack
Where it falls short
- The free plan is no longer unlimited, capped at 5 users since April 2026
- Costs scale with headcount, and the features most businesses want sit on the higher tiers
- No activity-level monitoring, and exporting cleanly to payroll can be fiddly
Clockify is still one of the best time trackers going for freelancers, agencies and service teams, fast to set up, genuinely affordable, and deep where it counts on invoicing and reporting. The big 2026 caveat is the free plan: it's now capped at five users, so the "free for everyone" reputation no longer holds, and larger teams should price the paid tier they'll actually land on (usually Standard) rather than the free one. The UX is practical over pretty and payroll exports can grate, but for accurate, affordable time tracking that doesn't try to be a whole project suite, it earns its place as the world's most-used tracker, and the 15% recurring cashback takes a little more off an already fair price.
